Feeds are a way for websites large and small to distribute their content well beyond just visitors using browsers. Feeds permit subscription to regular updates, delivered automatically via a web portal, news reader, or in some cases good old email.
Are Description Meta Tags Still Used?

Descriptions meta tags are of content on a web page that are not visible to the human viewer but is visible to the search engine bots. It is a misnomer to think that they are still not viewed by Google and other search bots. Today there are do's and don'ts with meta tags:
