Backlink Optimization Techniques

Backlinks are simply anchors links that point to your web pages. In the search engine optimization world there are a couple of different types of backlinks. One, there are backlinks that originate from another page of the same site (sometimes we call them internal links) or two, backlinks that are originating from another website. (we call these external links).

Internal backlink Example:

www.bluekaboom.com →links to→ www.bluekaboom.com/cincinnati-search-engine-marketing-solutions

External backink Example:

www.bluekaboom.com →links to→ http://www.google.com/services

For great optimization it’s important to be as descriptive as possible when creating the backlink text to the other website.

From an Search Engine Optimzation point of view, it is importaint to keep in mind the keyword phrases that are used when building the links (as listed in the example above) Notice that “Click here” is an example of a bad discrptive word to use for the Google link. But say we were not selling google services but we where writing an article on “cloud services” therefore, we are eearch engine optimizing our article on cloud services. The better choice would be to use the keyword phrase that is more meaningful like “Google Cloud Services.” This would identify that your article is in dead about “cloud services” because the website you are linking to is also about “cloud services”.

Trick or Treat

The search engines such as Google, will not reward you for trying to trick them. So be careful to not use the same anchor text for all your backlinks. They will be able to sniff out if something seems like a trick, even if its unintentional, they will penalize you anyway.
