There’s Nothing Wrong with Simple

Posted December 27, 2009

When browsing the web, it’s very easy to become overwhelmed with information and, sometimes, extremely busy design only seems to exacerbate the problem. It’s a treat for me when I find something that can effectively communicate its message to me while being easy to read yet still appealing to look at.

A lot of times I come across a site that tries so hard to look “neat” that the information is completely lost and I often leave a little frustrated. I wanted to share a great example of the simple approach. My wife has developed an interest in Holga cameras and a site she was looking at caught my attention. It wasn’t flashy graphics or slick technology that did it - it was the sheer simplicity of the layout and type as well as the bright and clean photography. The content itself was speaking to me.

It’s very important not to scare away the viewer or make it harder for them to get what they came for because let’s face it, you want to keep them coming back.
